Division Commander – Criminal Investigations, Narcotics, and Gang InvestigationsCaptain James W. Cornett joined the United States Air Force Security Police in 1974. In 1984, after serving 10 years in the military, he moved to Warren County. He began his career at the Warren County Sheriff’s Office in 1990 as a Corrections Officer. In 1994, he was promoted to a Narcotics Investigator with the Drug Task Force. In 1997, he transferred to Criminal Investigations and was promoted to Sergeant in 2002, followed by Lieutenant in 2004. After serving as Lieutenant for approximately one year, he was appointed Captain of Criminal Investigations. In 2008, he became the commander of all law enforcement which includes patrol, school resource, animal control, as well as criminal, narcotics, and gang investigations. In 2011 he was reappointed as the Commander of all Investigations. Captain Cornett is a graduate of the National Criminal Justice Command College and the Forensic Science Academy.
