Danny McEathron has served as the Sheriff of Warren County, Virginia since 2004. His career with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office began in 1982 as a jailor. He served as the Sheriff’s Office narcotic and patrol K-9 unit for 20 years. While working in the patrol division, Danny was also assigned to the Northwest Virginia Narcotics Task Force as an investigator before being promoted to Patrol Sergeant and served 18 years on the Special Operations team as well as Commander. In 2002, Danny was promoted to Captain overseeing the Law Enforcement Division. He served in that capacity until being elected sheriff in 2003.

McEathron leads an office of over 92 members and manages services consisting of Court Holding, Civil Process, Courthouse Security, E-911 Communications, Animal Control, Patrol, Investigations, and Law Enforcement services.

Sheriff McEathron has served on several local community boards, including United Way and St. Luke Community Clinic. He has served as a council member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, as president of the Warren County Babe Ruth Baseball League and was a past at-large board member of the Warren County Rotary. Sheriff McEathron was a member of the Warren Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees, Virginia Sheriff's Association Board member and Legislative Committee past member. He has also served as an executive board member of the Rappahannock Regional Criminal Justice Training Academy.  Currently Sheriff McEatheron serves on the Warren County Youth Advisory Board, is a Valley Health Corporation Member and is Chairman of the newly formed Skyline Regional Criminal Justice Academy. In 2016, he was appointed to a second two year term to serve as chairman of the Northwest Virginia Regional Drug and Gang Task Force.

Sheriff McEathron and his wife, Donna, have been married since 1983. They have two adult children, Elijah and Alayna. Danny enjoys time spent with his family. His hobbies include construction and restoring classic cars.

Major Michael Arnold

Administration and Operations Management, FOIA Officer


Major Michael Arnold attended the University of South Dakota where he studied Criminal Justice. In 1994, he worked for the Hutchinson County Sheriff’s Office in South Dakota, serving as Chief Deputy. After moving to Warren County in 1997, Major Arnold began his career at the Warren County Sheriff’s Office assigned as a deputy to the Patrol Division. In January 2007, he was promoted to Patrol Sergeant and received the rank of Patrol Lieutenant nine months later. In 2012, he was again promoted to Captain as the Division Commander over Patrol.  October 1, 2017 was promored to Major, overseeing Administration and Operations at the Warren County Sheriff's Office.

Captain Gordon Foster

Division Commander – Court Holding, Civil Process, Courthouse Security, E911/Communications, Records Management, Accreditation


Captain Foster began his career with Warren County in 1992 working in communications. He then worked in corrections and patrol before transferring to criminal investigations in 2004. He completed fire investigation training with the Virginia Fire Marshal Academy in 2002. Captain Foster worked jointly with the county Fire Marshall's office in fire and explosion incidents that occur in the county.  Captain Foster was Lieutenant supervising sheriff's office investigators assigned to criminal, narcotics, and gang investigations as well as the operations of the property and evidence section for the office. He has been a lifelong resident of Warren County. On October 1, 2017 Gordon Foster was promoted to Captain and currently oversees court services operations, including management of court holding facilities, court and courthouse security, civil process, and the DARE program. He also serves as training coordinator for the Warren County Sheriff's Office and oversees the Communications/E911 Division.

Captain Joshua Seal

Division Commander – Patrol, Animal Control, Investigations, Special Operations, Narcotics, Gang, School Resource


Captain Seal began his law enforcement career with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office in 2000 in our communications division as a dispatcher, in 2003 he was transferred to the patrol division as a road deputy. He was promoted to Patrol Sergeant in 2007 and was appointed Patrol Lieutenant in 2016. Captain Seal supervised Sheriff’s Office deputies assigned to patrol, school resource, and animal control for over a year as Lieutenant.  On October 1, 2017 Captain Seal was promoted to Captain and is now the Division Commander overseeing the Law Enforcement Division.  He also oversees Investigations, the Crisis Negotiation Team as well as the Special Operations Team.  Captain Seal is a lifelong resident of Warren County.

Lieutenant Charles Bockey

Patrol, Special Operations, Tracking Team, Animal Control, Accreditation


Lieutenant Bockey began his law enforcement career with the Warren County Sheriff's Office in 2004 as an Investigator with the Northwest Regional Drug Task Force. In 2008, he transferrred to the Patrol Division as a road deputy. He was promoted to Patrol Sergeant in 2012 and was appointed as the Court Services Lieutenant on December 1, 2013. In December 2014, Lieutenant Bockey transferred back to the patrol division. He currently serves as the FTO and Bike Patrol Supervisor. Lieutenant Bockey previously spent eight years in the U.S. Air Force as a Security Forces member and two years with the Middletown Police Department.

Lieutenant Charles F. Brogan

Lieutenant Brogan began his law enforcement career with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office in 2002 as a communications officer; in 2008 he transferred to the Civil Division; in 2013 he was transferred to the Patrol Division. In February 2017 he was promoted to Patrol Sergeant. Lieutenant Brogan became the Crisis Negotiation Team Commander in mid-2017. On November 1, 2017 he was appointed as the Court Services Lieutenant in November 2017. Lieutenant Brogan is also a Field Training Officer, General Instructor and serves as the Infection Control Coordinator and Naloxone Coordinator.

Lieutenant Philip A. Henry II

Lieutenant Henry began his law enforcement career with the Warren County Sheriff's Office in 1999 as a communications officer; in 2004 he transferred to the patrol division as a road deputy. In 2008 he was assigned to the Northwest Virginia Regional Drug Task Force as an investigator. Lietenant Henry was promoted to Sergeant of Investigations in 2012 at which time he supervised Sheriff's Office Investigators assigned to criminal, narcotics, and gang investigations and was appointed as the Lieutenant of investigations on October 1, 2017. Lieutenant Henry is also a Field Training Officer, General Instructor and remains an active member of the Sheriff’s Office Crisis Negotiation Team.

Lieutenant Jennifer Laney-Kirkland

Jennifer Laney-Kirkland began her career with the Sheriff’s Office in December 2003 as a Communications Officer. In May 2005, she graduated from the RRCJA as a certified Law Enforcement Officer and was placed in the Patrol Division. In 2007 she was selected to become the first female canine handler for the Sheriff’s Office, and in 2008 graduated from Customs/Border Patrol as a certified narcotic K-9 handler with her partner K-9 “Ally”. In 2013, Laney- Kirkland moved to School Resource and was promoted to Sergeant of the SRO’s in 2016. Throughout her career, she has been certified as an electronic search specialist for the Project Lifesaver program; Hostage Negotiator; certified Crisis Intervention Training; General Instructor; DARE Instructor. In 2018, Laney-Kirkland was promoted to become the first female Deputy to hold the position of Lieutenant.

Lieutenant Allen Smoot

Patrol, Animal Control


Lieutenant Smoot began his law enforcement career with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office in 1997 working in the Jail, in 2001 he was transferred to the patrol division as an Animal Control Deputy. He was promoted to Jail Sergeant in 2003, and in 2006 Lieutenant Smoot was transferred to Patrol as a Patrol Deputy.  In 2011 he was transferred to Criminal Investigations and in 2015 was assigned to Narcotics as an investigator until Lieutenant Smoot became a Patrol Sergeant in 2016.  In November 2017 he was appointed Patrol Lieutenant and is also a member of the Crisis Negotiation Team. Lieutenant Smoot is a lifelong resident of Warren County.
