The jail has one full time nurse on staff. She performs wellness checks on all inmates during her daily medical rounds. She purchases over-the-counter medications in bulk to keep costs at a minimum. She works in conjunction with doctors to insure that patients receive the necessary prescription medications and adequate health care needed.
Pre-trial testing is done at the Work Release Center. Pre-trial testing is ordered by the Magistrate and/or the Court. Each time a pre-trial drug test is done, a fee that must be paid prior to the specimen collection. Please have the exact amount of cash needed with you for the test, as the Work Release Center is unable to make change. The following information is sent to the Commonwealth Attorney Office:
Once the court has released the testing, please provide the Work Release Center with the documentation so that unnecessary information is not sent to the Commonwealth Attorney.

Reading materials are given to inmates to improve and nurture their skills with hopes of promoting their rehabilitation and becoming productive citizens. The jail is equipped with a book cart, adequately stocked with recreational and instructional books. Inmates are encouraged to select and read books from this cart. Books from the cart are passed out through the cell blocks Monday through Friday.
Donations of reading materials are accepted; however only paperback books are acceptable. Any literature that may be deemed as inappropriate for inmate reading will be rejected.
Any legal information must come from the inmate’s attorney or a court of law.
