Warren County, VA--Wendy Ellen Tenney and Brian Wayne Tenney, of 63 Limeton Church Road in Bentonville VA, have been charged in relation to the incident on September 12, 2018.
Wendy Ellen Tenney was charged on September 13th with six felony counts of § 40.1-103, Cruelty and injuries to children and on September 14th sixteen counts of § 3.2-6570, Cruelty to animals and three counts of § 3.2-6503, Inadequate care of animal.
Brian Wayne Tenney was charged on September 13th with six felony counts of § 40.1-103, Cruelty and injuries to children and on September 14th sixteen counts of § 3.2-6570, Cruelty to animals, three counts of § 3.2-6503, Inadequate care of animal and one count livestock running at large.

Warren County, VA--The Warren County Sheriff’s Office reports on September 12, 2018 at approximately 1030 a.m., Animal Control Deputy Gomez while on patrol observed several goats in the roadway at Limeton Church Rd. in Warren County. Deputy Gomez made contact with the owners, Brian and Wendy Tenney, at their residence located at 63 Limeton Church Rd. While speaking with Mrs. Tenney, Deputy Gomez heard multiple dogs barking from a locked garage on the property. Based on prior incidents related to the welfare of animals at this residence, Deputy Gomez asked to check the welfare of the animals located inside the garage. While checking the welfare of the animals, unclean and unsafe conditions were observed. Deputies responded to secure the garage and residence on the property while Deputy Gomez obtained a search warrant for the property. During the execution of the search warrant, thirteen dogs were seized from the garage. One dog and eights cats were also seized from the residence and eight additional cats were seized that were running loose on the property. Based on the conditions, all of the animals were seized and are currently being evaluated, treated and cared for by the Humane Society of Warren County.The Warren County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the following agencies for their assistance and involvement; Warren County Department of Social Services, Warren County Fire and Rescue, Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control, the Virginia Department of Emergency Management for hazmat concerns, and especially the assistance provided by the staff from the Humane Society of Warren County.This case is currently under investigation and charges are pending for Animal Cruelty and Inadequate Care. Warren County, VA-- At approximately 6:11 P.M. on September 6, 2018, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a missing adult. The adult was later identified as Harry Glenn Fitzwater of Bentonville, VA. It was reported that Fitzwater was last seen at approximately 2:20 P.M. on September 6, 2018. During the course of the investigation, a golf cart that Mr. Fitzwater frequently used was located along the river on Misty Meadow Lane in Warren County. Warren County Fire and Rescue units located Mr. Fitzwater in the river at approximately 7:25 P.M. He was down river from where his golf cart had been located.Fitzwater was a 72 year old male, with a known medical history, and would frequently use his golf cart near the river. He was also unable to swim.This case is currently under investigation as an accidental death and an autopsy has been conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Manassas, Virginia. Catlett Mountain Rd Assault 09-06-2018
Warren County, VA - Press Release Warren County, VA- On September 5, 2018 the Warren County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an assault that occurred on September 2, 2018. The reported incident took place on Catlett Mountain Rd. in Warren County, involving Basil John Chuppa a 40 year old male resident of Warren County and a female victim.
The investigation led to the arrest of Basil John Chuppa for the following charges: 1- § 18.2-51.6. Strangulation of another. 2- § 18.2-67.3. Aggravated sexual battery.

Rabid Cat 08-09-2018
Warren County, VA - Press Release Warren County, VA- On July 26, 2018, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control responded to a complaint in the area of 22 W Duck Street that a cat was chasing people and acting aggressively. Animal Control picked up the cat, which had been confined prior to arrival, and after consultation with the Health Department, the cat was quarantined at the Humane Society of Warren County. On July 28th, the Humane Society reported that the animal began showing obvious signs of rabies and was euthanized. On July 30th, Animal Control took the cat to the Health Department for testing. On August 9th, the Health Department confirmed the cat tested positive for rabies. At this time, there is no known human exposure involving this cat.
Signs and symptoms of rabies include, but are not limited to, un-coordination, staggering, disorientation, seizures, and excessive saliva. Animal Control would like to remind all citizens to vaccinate your animals. It is not only the law, but it may save your pet’s life. The Humane Society of Warren County and Petco are two of many places that offer monthly low cost rabies clinics.
